•Students will enrich their vocabularies and improve their understanding of the novel through using resources to define and use in context words that are both teacher and student selected. •Students will practice close reading and analyzing an author's style choices and purpose through guided and independent work with A Christmas Carol. • Students will demonstrate their understanding of the text on four levels: factual, interpretive, critical, and personal. • Students will analyze the arguments presented to Scrooge by the various spirits in order to analyze how they are appealing to him to change. • Students will write an argument essay with a claim of value comparing two film adaptations of the novel, one assigned and one of their choice. |
